Final Results from the 7th Annual New Smyrna Beach Redfish-Trout Challenge presented by Hell's Bay

New Smyrna Beach, Fla. – The weather cooperated and the anglers responded in force Sunday at the 7th Annual New Smyrna Beach Redfish-Trout Challenge at FishStock presented by Hell's Bay.

Eighty-eight boats vied for a total of $15,000 in cash and prizes on the final day, with former winners Bob and Bill Fisher claiming the Top Overall Boat Award with a combined total weight of 39.04 pounds of redfish and trout. Mike Marple and Rubin Diaz took second in the Overall Boat Category with a total of 35.05 pounds of fish, edging out Gary Bell, Doug White, Jason Gibson, who had 34.56 pounds.

Marple and Diaz (fishing on Boat # 9) won the Redfish Category with 24.44 pounds, while Randy Beach and Jodi Mishler (aboard Boat #45) claimed victory the Trout Category with 16.38 pounds.

Mishler also was crowned the Top Lady Angler, thanks to a massive 9.88-pound gator trout. Mishler edged Sheena Cox, who, fishing on Boat #12, had another dandy trout, an 8.6-pounder.

Carolyn Kelly was the big winner in the Young Angler category — she claimed both first and second place, thanks to two excellent fish, a 6.7-pound trout and a 5.78-pound redfish. In the Fly Category, Peter Deeks landed the largest trout, while John Turcot caught the biggest redfish on fly.

Finally, a special thanks goes out to Hell's Bay Boatworks, who provided a custom-built fish tank that allowed for the safe delivery and release of so many of the trout and redfish caught this year. They're all swimming happily back in the Mosquito Lagoon!
